Preview

Ashleigh Barty and Elina Svitolina both came from a set down to secure their place in the WTA Finals title-decider and their desire to finish the season with silverware should ensure a tasty tussle for Shenzhen spectators.

There is little to separate the pair in the betting but while Svitolina has made the final with four wins, Barty suffered defeat against Kiki Bertens on her way to Red Group glory and has been taken the distance in two of her three wins.

Svitolina has also come out on top in all five of their career meetings - the latest coming at Indian Wells in March - and the Ukrainian ace will be keen to retain the title she won last year.

Svitolina's semi-final task was made easier by Belinda Bencic's retirement, but she had been leading 4-1 in the final set and straight-set triumphs over Purple Group rivals Simona Halep, Sofia Kenin and Karolina Pliskova suggest she is once again finishing the campaign at the peak of her powers.

Novak Djokovic has enjoyed a relatively smooth passage through to the Paris Masters final and his French adventure should culminate with success over Denis Shapovalov.

The super Serb was in line to meet Rafael Nadal but his old foe was forced to withdraw prior to his semi-final showdown with Shapovalov with an abdominal injury sustained in his warm-up.

That should help Djokovic, who has yet to drop a set in the French capital, to claim his fifth Paris Masters title and he is 1-8 to do so.
