Albert Ramos Vinolas is full of confidence having clinched silverware in Switzerland before claiming three scalps on his latest venture in Kitzbuhel, but the seasoned Spaniard may need to dig deep to fight off the younger legs of Casper Ruud in their semi-final tussle.

Ramos Vinolas, advised by Racing Post Sport’s Adrian Humphries at 25-1 pre-tournament, can never be underestimated on clay - six of his seven ATP career final appearances have taken place on the slowest surface.

However, his young Norwegian challenger has also shown great liking for this terrain and earlier victories over Pablo Carreno-Busta and Pablo Cuevas, two esteemed clay performers, show him in a good light.

The 20-year-old also won two matches in May’s French Open. He recorded straight-set wins over Ernests Gulbis and Matteo Berrettini before bumping into Swiss supremo Roger Federer.

Ruud trails the Spaniard 3-0 in their personal series and needs a career-best effort to oblige, but he was sent off favourite for their latest showdown on Ramos Vinolas’ patch in Madrid in May and is capable of taking the contest the distance.

Recommendation
Three sets in Ramos Vinolas v Ruud
1pt 11-8 Sky Bet
