Matteo Berrettini's withdrawal from the ATP Finals has left plenty of possible outcomes in the Red Group but for Alexander Zverev the task is simple - defeat Hubert Hurkacz and advance to the semi-finals alongside Daniil Medvedev.

Zverev, who was one set up when Berrettini retired in their Turin opener, lost to Medvedev on Tuesday but a win in the afternoon contest will seal his progress regardless of what Jannik Sinner does in the evening match.

Sinner, drafted in to replace his fellow Italian, defeated Hurkacz 6-2 6-2 but his fate is in the hands of Zverev as the number of matches played - three trumps two in this scenario - determines who will progress if the pair finish level on points.

Hurkacz can also qualify but he looked laboured against Sinner and Zverev, who is heavily favoured in the matchup, should get the job done.

A better bet could be to take Sinner to cause an upset against Medvedev, who has already won the group and may not be fully focused with a semi-final on the horizon.

Sinner is odds-on to be eliminated by the time he faces the US Open champion but he's unlikely to drop his level in front of a home crowd and can produce a shock.
