Eastbourne has again attracted a stellar line-up as players get one last chance to fine-tune their Wimbledon preparations and world number four Kiki Bertens could head to the grass-court major with a victory under her belt.

Bookmakers go 8-1 the field with Karolina Pliskova, champion in 2017, heading the market. But the Czech performer was beaten by twin sister Kristyna in Birmingham last week and is not always at her best on turf.

Sloane Stephens also has plenty to prove on the surface, last year’s runner-up Aryna Sabalenka is in poor form, while the well-being of defending champion Caroline Wozniacki is unknown following an early exit at the French Open, so the bottom-half of the draw could open up for Bertens.

The powerful Dutchwoman had to retire in the second round of the French Open but she was second-favourite to reign supreme at Roland Garros and her comeback effort on the grass in Den Bosch was full of promise.

Bertens finished runner-up to Alison Riske on home soil but she should have come on plenty for the outing and her run to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last season shows she can mix it with the game’s elite on any terrain.

ATP Antalya Open

Adrian Mannarino has played second fiddle at the ATP Antalya Open in each of the last two seasons but he travels to Turkey in rude health and is worth backing to make it third time lucky.

The Frenchman claimed the scalps of Fernando Verdasco, David Goffin, Borna Coric and Jordan Thompson on his way to victory in Den Bosch last week and, if anything, this looks easier.

A first-round bye will ensure he enjoys a full recovery and he should outclass this field.
