Svitolina given tough draw in Istanbul
Elina Svitolina is a worthy favourite for the WTA Istanbul and should take some stopping but the Ukrainian's price is short enough and her draw could have been kinder.
Svitolina defeated world number two Angelique Kerber in Sunday's Fed Cup but the German may have been saving herself for her home tournament in Stuttgart and that result should not be taken too seriously.
The clay surface is a another problem surrounding Svitolina's title charge. Her greatest success has come on the hard court and there are a number of performers that seem better equipped to the red dirt.
Tsvetana Pironkova, drawn on the opposite half to Svitolina, is among those well-suited to clay and could outrun her odds.
The Bulgarian reached the last eight of the last season's French Open, silencing Agnieszka Radwanska en route, and if she performs to her best she can make a mockery of 20-1 quotes.
