Sunday preview
Lazio let a 2-0 lead slip against Empoli last time out but they will be on their guard in this clash and can get the better of strugglers Sassuolo.
The home side have lost five of their last six games, conceding 13 goals in the process, and they face a Lazio team who are chasing a European spot.
Going into the weekend’s games, only Napoli and Juventus had a better defensive record than Lazio and their solidity at the back should be enough to see them over the line in this early kick-off.
Englishman William Still has had a strong start to life as Reims manager, going unbeaten in his first nine matches and steering his side away from the danger zone in Ligue 1.
Still’s latest test is the visit of Nice, who began life without Lucien Favre with a comprehensive 6-1 win over Montpellier.
The sides are separated just by goal difference in the middle of the French top flight and given that four of the last five meetings between these two have been draws, there might not be much to split them afterwards either.
Folarin Balogun has been the key man for Reims this season, scoring ten times in 17 games and he is fancied to get on the scoresheet again in what should be a competitive clash.
Rennes have a rock-solid record at home, winning eight of their nine league matches, but they will need it against a Paris Saint Germain side who have won 15 of their 18 Ligue 1 games this season.
Rennes will be without Benjamin Bourigeaud and Warmed Omari after the pair were sent off against Clermont on Wednesday but the hosts can still pose a threat to the Parisians.
Both teams have scored in Rennes’ last seven games in all competitions and there should be more goals here, although PSG’s superior attacking ability should tell and the league leaders can take all three points.
