Lyon can see off Bordeaux team in freefall

The bad news for Lyon is they are currently locked in mid-table obscurity in Ligue 1. The good news is that the standings are so congested it would take only a couple of wins to put them back in the mix for a European berth.

And victory could be on the cards for Peter Bosz's men on Sunday when they take on a struggling Bordeaux team who have managed one win in ten matches.

Bordeaux boss Vladimir Petkovic insists he is still the right man for the job but his side have collected only 13 points from 16 games and will be without Laurent Koscielny, Josh Maja and Paul Baysse on Sunday.

Lyon have plenty of work to do if they are to push for the top three but they have a great chance of recording maximum points on Sunday.

New Hertha boss to come unstuck in Stuttgart

Whereas city rivals Union Berlin temporarily moved into the top four with victory over Leipzig on Friday, Hertha are at risk of being sucked into a relegation battle in the Bundesliga.

They have reacted to a four-game winless streak by replacing Pal Dardai with Tayfun Korkut in the dugout but their new manager is unlikely to get off to a winning start.

Hertha have lost five of their seven league away fixtures this season and hosts Stuttgart, although inconsistent, have shown signs of improvement recently.

Stuttgart beat Mainz 2-1 at home last time out after having pushed Dortmund in a defeat by the same scoreline the week before and they are worth chancing to come out on top.

Vallecano can continue to defy expectations

Rayo Vallecano were plying their trade in Spain's second tier last term but they have looked right at home in La Liga since their promotion and are genuine contenders for a European berth.

They have already claimed seven scalps in the league this term, defeating Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao in their pursuit of a top-five spot.

And they can continue their fine run by dispatching Espanyol, who were promoted alongside Rayo last term.

Espanyol are also progressing nicely but are winless in seven away contests this term and could struggle to get anything from their trip to the Estadio de Vallecas.
