Suarez could set the ball rolling for brilliant Barca
Copa del Rey
These two superpowers have met once this season, at the Nou Camp, a 1-1 draw in which, utterly predictably, Barca boasted 72 per cent possession but could not overwhelm Diego Simeone’s brilliantly marshalled side.
The draw looks a big runner in the capital with both sides going well. Atletico have lost one of their last 11, Barca one of their last 19.
Luis Enrique may have a headache, however, after both Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta missed training yesterday. The Catalans can cope without one of them, but without both? That would be altogether more demanding because the two of them as a pair are crucial to everything that’s good about the cup holders.
The threat, of course, still comes from Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez with the ex-Liverpool man in terrific form. Back the Uruguayan to score first at 9-2 – he has failed to find the net in only three of his last 11 matches.
Barcelona did lose in Bilbao earlier in the competition, correctly banking on getting up over two legs.
They won’t be quite as presumptuous against a strong Atletico outfit, so the urge for an away goal should ensure Barcelona are on it from the start.
