Comfort with American smooth may not save Lauren Steadman and AJ

It's musicals week on Strictly, but not all the combos are wicked

Of all the musicals in all the world, why oh why are Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice doing the Charleston to The Lonely Goatherd? It's musicals week on Strictly, but not all the combos are wicked.

A salsa to the Joseph megamix? Unlucky for Joe Sugg. Paralympic athlete Lauren Steadman has a much better draw, dancing an American smooth to I'm In Love With A Wonderful Guy from South Pacific.

Ballroom has been Steadman's forte this series so she and partner AJ Pritchard will likely thrive – but there is no denying if Strictly were based solely on dancing ability, the duo would be next to go.

However, this week bookmakers are unable to split Steadman and actor Charles Venn, who dances the notoriously tricky rumba with partner Karen Clifton.

Venn has the ability to post a solid performance but having already faced the dance-off three times, he looks at risk. If facing Steadman, the actor would likely go through to week 12, but given frequent table-topper Ashley Roberts found herself in the bottom two on Sunday, there's no guarantee Venn won't end up against one of the higher-scoring dancers and make a premature exit.

Recommendation
Lauren Steadman and AJ Pritchard to be eliminated
