Southampton may struggle to break solid Brighton
Stalemate looks the value in south-coast scap
Southampton have not won a Premier League fixture since November and it is hard to trust them at odds-on to defeat Brighton, who are a point above them.
Brighton picked up a confidence-boosting 1-0 win at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Saturday and did it without several key players.
They have been busy strengthening their attack in January but solid defence has been their strong suit and it can help them repel the Saints, who have won just four league games this season.
1pt 5-2 general
Charlie Austin (hamstring) is still sidelined but Maya Yoshida (hamstring) and Shane Long (illness) are available.
Jurgen Locadia (hamstring), Jiri Skalak (ankle), Izzy Brown (knee) and Steve Sidwell (back) are out but new signing Leonardo Ulloa could make his debut.
Southampton have not won any of their last 11 Premier League games.
