Beatriz Haddad Maia is the name on a number of observers' lips in Seoul this week, but the Brazilian is no certainty to sweep aside Sara Sorribes Tormo in their Korean Open quarter-final clash early on Friday morning.

Haddad Maia has seen off wild-card Katarina Zavatska and fifth seed Irina-Camelia Begu, both in three-set clashes, and bookmakers like her chance of extending her stay in the South Korean capital.

However, Sorribes Tormo, a Spaniard who showed plenty of ability in her formative days in main draws on the WTA Tour, may take a bit more beating than many expect.

She needed three sets to oust Heather Watson in her opener then demolished Na-Lae Han in the last 16.

Punters can consider backing Sorribes Tormo to land an upset victory, but supporting her to win at least a set may be wiser.

The inaugural Laver Cup, a three-day Europe versus the World team competition, starts in Prague on Friday but bookmakers may be waiting another day before issuing prices.
