Solomona set to shine again for Sale against Worcester

Ace Sharks wing can feast on porous Warriors' defence

Denny Solomona celebrates a try for Sale against Bristol
1 of 1

Sale v Worcester
BT Sport 1, 7.45pm Friday
Ulster v Cardiff
BBC2 N Ireland/Wales, 7.35pm Friday

Denny Solomona has shone like a beacon in a disappointing season for Sale and he can claim an 11th try in 12 league and cup games when they host Worcester in the televised Premiership clash.

The Warriors have lost all nine previous league away games, including a 27-20 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Bristol. And while their attack worried Wasps a fortnight ago, the 40-33 defeat was a seventh time they have conceded 30 or more on the road.

The Sharks forwards tend to revel in night games at the AJ Bell Stadium and that should mean a platform for Solomona to stroll over the whitewash. But scoring tries even when Sale have been struggling has been a mark of his sensational cross-code switch.

In the Pro12, fourth-placed Ulster can give up 13 points to Cardiff at the Kingspan Stadium.

Ulster have won six on the spin in the league, including a 37-17 success over Glasgow in Belfast. The Blues have been playing plenty of good rugby recently but they may struggle to pick themselves up after losing Saturday’s European Challenge Cup quarter-final at Gloucester. The Cherry & Whites scored 26 unanswered second-half points.

Edinburgh also suffered Challenge Cup disappointment last weekend but they look worth a wager to beat Connacht by a margin of between one and 12 points (BBC Alba/TG4, 7.35pm).

Saturday’s rearranged 25-22 setback at Zebre was a seventh defeat out of nine on the road for the defending champions and two of Edinburgh’s three narrow losses at their new Myreside home have been to Munster and Ospreys.

In Saturday’s early Super Rugby (Sky Sports 2, 6.15am & 8.35am), back the Highlanders to give up five points to the Blues.

The ’Landers won last month’s Auckland meeting 22-16 and the Blues have lost their last 16 all-Kiwi away clashes including three trips to Dunedin.
