BBC2 & Eurosport 2, 1pm & 7pm Tuesday

M Williams v N Robertson 1pm

Mark Williams has been enjoying life since lifting the Betfred World Championship in May but he is unlikely to be celebrating after he takes on Neil Robertson in the first round of the Masters.

Williams claimed the World Open crown in August but since that victory there hasn't been much to get excited about.

The Welshman hasn't been past the quarter-finals in any of the last seven events he has entered and that includes big tournaments like the Betway UK Championship, Champion of Champions and the International Championship.

Robertson probably isn't performing at his peak either but winning the Riga Masters as well as making the final of the International Championship last year suggests that he is close to returning to somewhere near his best.

Williams did play well in the German Masters qualifiers before Christmas, and he is a quality operator, but this may come a little too soon for Sprog.

B Hawkins v S Murphy 7pm

Shaun Murphy was probably glad to see the back of 2018 and it will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best.

Murphy made the final of the Scottish Open in December but that good run was one of only a few highlights in a difficult 12 months and this could be as close as the betting suggests.

Barry Hawkins, who can score with the best in the game, is a class act who tends to produce his best snooker in the major events.
