Jamie Jones suspended over match-fixing allegations

Top-40 player Jamie Jones has been suspended from snooker's main tour with immediate effect over allegations he was involved in match-fixing.

The Welshman, ranked 39th in the world, has been banned by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association pending a disciplinary hearing.

Jones, 30, is alleged to have been "party to, or facilitated, the manipulation of the outcome" of a match between David John and Graeme Dott in the International Championship qualifiers in Preston on September 29, 2016. Dott won the clash 6-1.

Welshman John was suspended five months ago but the WPBSA say that following an investigation into alleged breaches of rules by John, Jones has a case to answer.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing against Dott and no matches played by 2012 World Championship quarter-finalist Jones are being investigated.
