Mark Williams v Ronnie O'Sullivan
2.30pm

Mark Williams and Ronnie O'Sullivan have won eight world titles between them and the old warriors should serve up another Crucible classic in their Betfred World Championship quarter-final meeting.

The pair have locked horns 45 times during their career, with O'Sullivan winning on 31 occasions.

The Rocket was in imperious form in the final session as he closed out a 13-10 victory over Ding Junhui in the last 16 but he can expect another stern examination from the experienced Welshman.

Williams won his latest world crown just two years ago and he is showing some of his old sparkle again after a dismal 18 months on the baize.

By his own admission, Williams has not been putting in as much as graft as he should have been but he was optimistic about his latest Sheffield challenge, stating he had been working hard and his game was in fine fettle.

Wins over Alan McManus (10-5) and Stuart Bingham (13-11) suggest that is the case and although victory is unlikely, he is gritty enough to keep things respectable.

Hills go 4-5 that the contest features at least 21 frames, so a 13-8 O'Sullivan victory would still see punters collect.

Kurt Maflin v Anthony McGill
2.30pm

Anthony McGill has won both of his Crucible contests in a deciding frame but his run may come to an end against Kurt Maflin in the quarter-finals.

This is uncharted territory for both men but while Maflin has impressed in wins over Dave Gilbert and John Higgins, McGill has made hard work of overcoming Jack Lisowski and Crucible debutant Jamie Clarke.

Maflin made four centuries in toppling world number 12 Gilbert, who was a Sheffield semi-finalist last year, and he was equally impressive in dismissing four-time Crucible champion John Higgins, who had finished runner-up in each of the last three years.

McGill looked sure to lose to Clarke but a simple miss from the young Welshman when he led 12-11 gave the Scot another shot at victory and Maflin is unlikely to be so careless.

McGill had a highest break of just 78 in overcoming Clarke and will need to score much more heavily to keep close tabs on Maflin, who has not looked fazed by the occasion in either of his victories.

The layers are perhaps showing too much respect to Maflin in making him as short as 1-2 given this is the biggest match of his career, but it is easy to see why and punters can maximise the value by opting him to win by at least two frames in this best-of-25 quarter-final.
