Day four
Eurosport 2, 7.30am & 12.30pm Wednesday

Mark Allen loves the International Championship and competing in China with a passion, but it's obviously going to get tougher for the Northern Irishman as the Daqing tournament goes on.

Defending champion and top seed, Allen defeated Mark Davis 6-1 and his reward is a clash with Ali Carter, who looks to be on the up judging by his performances this week.

Carter enjoys a competitive personal series with Allen - the Pistol has won ten of their 21 past meetings while the Captain has triumphed in nine (the other two were draws).

But Allen has been to the fore in their two previous rumbles in the Far East, winning 6-0 in this tournament last year and 5-3 in the 2008 China Open.

Allen looks a bit short to chance on the matchwinner market, and so the advice is to back the favourite to successfully concede his opponent a start of 1.5 frames.

Recommendation
M Allen -1.5 frames
