Preview

Former top amateur Luo Honghao is taking time to acclimatise to the professional game, but the Chinese talent is still only young and high expectations still stand.

His opening outing in the Northern Ireland Open is against Dominic Dale, who sent Ronnie O'Sullivan packing in the World Open last month, and the oddsmakers respect the Welshman's chance against Luo.

But while Dale should be taken seriously, he was found wanting against Fergal O'Brien after downing the Rocket, so perhaps it's right not to expect too much of the veteran these days.

Luo may one day rule the snooker world and while a market on the first Chinese player to win the World Championship would make a potentially cracking betting heat, he would have viable claims.

Si Jiahui made light work of Hossein Vafaei in a 4-0 victory on day one in Belfast. Luo will do well to post a similar result against Dale, but there is a case for believing he offers value.
