Preview

Matt Selt's questionable behaviour in the Championship League last month has not exactly endeared him to the majority of his fellow players and Mark Allen may not be in a mood to mess around when he meets the Indian Open hero in Champion of Champions Group Three.

Allen is getting better and better anyway and while he still has to find more in his game in order to compete more successfully against a few of the top brass, Selt is definitely not in that sphere.

It's best of seven in round one at Coventry's Ricoh Arena and so Allen is unlikely to be able to afford a tardy start against Selt, who is a capable opponent.

With that in mind, backing Northern Ireland's finest to win at least two-thirds of the first six frames looks a viable option, and it would not be a surprise to see an Allen 4-0 win prove popular.

English Open champion Mark Selby is expected to defeat Yan Bingtao and the Riga Masters hero will have to find more than he did in Yushan last week, when he edged Bai Langning 5-4 before losing 5-1 to Stuart Carrington.
