Gary Wilson's reward for his Betway UK Champ­ion­­ship last-64 fightback against Chris Wakelin is a date with Joe Perry and the Geordie cueman has a chance to kick on in York.

Wilson trailed Wakelin 4-0 but turned things around in scintillating fashion to triumph 6-4 with the aid of consecutive breaks of 67, 97, 134, 114, 100 and 124.

Perry remains a fine match-player so is unlikely to prove easy pickings, but if Wilson can start the match better than he did against Wakelin his breakbuilding skills give him a genuine chance of victory.

Ding Junhui can be considered against Ali Carter, but the Chinese ace is still clawing his way back to reasonable form after a fallow period.
