Cyprus were no match for a strong Scotland side in their World Cup opener but they can boost their qualification hopes back in calmer waters against Malaysia.

Michael Georgiou and Antonis Poullos are the Cypriot pairing and they face a Malaysian duo of Thor Chuan Leong and Moh Keen Hoo.

Georgiou is a classy cueman and he showed that when winning his singles rubber against John Higgins albeit in an overall 4-1 defeat. Poullos is a better player than his performance suggested and there has to be a strong chance of improvement now he has experienced the competition.

That aside, Cyprus have little to fear from the Malaysian outfit, and Georgiou is fancied to win both of his singles rubbers. Poullos is capable of chipping in with a win to secure victory and there's even the doubles as an insurance policy.
