The penny may finally be dropping for Ross Muir and it could be worth trying to find a way to support the Scot in his tough European Masters last-16 clash against Mark Allen.

Muir, a 22-year-old from Edinburgh who was crowned Junior Pot Black king in 2009, has always had potential and his effort in posting 4-2 wins over Lee Walker and Gary Wilson in Belgium has to go down as some of his best work in the professional ranks.

Allen is a polished top-level performer and making a match of it in Lommel may not come easy for Muir, but he’s 4-5 with a handicap start of 2.5 frames and outsider backers should at least get an entertaining run for their money.

Recommendation
R Muir +2.5 frames
