Day four
ITV4, 1pm & 7pm Thursday

Ryan Day is in the form of his life having won back-to-back titles and the red-hot Welshman can extend his purple patch by making the last four of the Ladbrokes Players Championship in Llandudno at the expense of his compatriot Mark Williams.

Day whitewashed Cao Yupeng to clinch the Gibraltar Open earlier this month before following up in remarkable fashion to land the Romanian Masters, where his list of scalps included Barry Hawkins, John Higgins, Kyren Wilson and Stuart Bingham.

He beat world champion Mark Selby 6-3 in his opening match on Tuesday, showing little sign of fatigue, and could continue to defy the layers with victory over Williams.

Day made breaks of 133 and 107 in dispatching Selby and the 37-year-old, who has won his last 12 matches, is playing too well to be ignored at odds-against prices.

Williams is a plucky performer and his 6-2 win over Yan Bingtao suggests he’s in the mood to please his home crowd, but he gave the Chinese youngster plenty of chances and allowing Day similar table time could prove costly.
