Rampant Day could make life difficult for top man Selby

Welshman worth a punt after Gibraltar and Romania wins

Day two
ITV4, 1pm & 7pm Tuesday

Ryan Day will do well to make it three titles on the bounce this week but the fact he is playing in his homeland could spur him on in his Ladbrokes Players Championship clash with Mark Selby.

Continent-trotting Day returns to Wales after deserved title triumphs in Gibraltar and Romania and with world number one Selby having performed disappointingly in Bucharest last week, it may be fair to expect a close clash over the best of 11 frames.

Day may understandably be a shade tired after his exploits, but punters should remember the fact he has won three titles this season is down to talent he has always possessed.

Prior to the current campaign, Day was one of the biggest underachievers. He can now put that tag behind him, although he still has unfinished business in more important tournaments.

Proud Pontycymer potter Day is 8-11 with a start of 2.5 frames from Coral and the sponsors and that looks worth taking considering his fine form on the baize.

Ronnie O'Sullivan returns to competitive action on day two and is prohibitively priced to see off Graeme Dott. The odds-compilers make a 6-2 victory to the Rocket their frame-betting favourite, but Dott has been showing more grit of late.

Recommendation
R Day +2.5 frames
1pt 8-11 Coral, Ladbrokes
