Preview

The Champion of Champions tournament is a bit of a collector’s item - an event Judd Trump is yet to win.

The 32-year-old has come up short in eight previous attempts and will be looking to move within one victory of a maiden title when he tackles Kyren Wilson in the last four.

Trump breezed through the group stage in Bolton, dropping the first frame of his title bid before rattling off ten on the spin to defeat David Lilley 4-1 and then Ryan Day 6-0.

With world number one Mark Selby crashing out at the hands of Yan Bingtao on the other side of the draw, Trump will probably see this as the perfect opportunity to avenge his 10-9 loss to Neil Robertson in the final of this tournament two years ago.

Wilson has had a more arduous journey to the last four, beating Jordan Brown 4-2 before securing a 6-4 victory over Robertson.

Trump has won nine of the last 14 matchups between the pair and odds-on to book his place in the final.

However, given the Bristolian’s smooth progress so far he may be worth backing to overcome a two-frame deficit on the handicap.
