Joe Perry's solid game should see him nail Crucible spot

The third and final qualifying round of the Betfred World Championship provides virtually ideal match-betting chances for snooker punters.

Qualifying for the Crucible can make or break a player's season and something will have to give when veterans Joe Perry and Mark Davis take to the baize.

Both have been in great touch in the qualifiers. Davis did not give Coral Shoot Out champ Michael Georgiou a look-in in a 10-0 bashing, while Perry ended the hopes of Jimmy White returning to the home of snooker in clinical style in round two.

Perry is generally the more complete performer and it will be a surprise if the Fen Tiger comes out second best.

Chris Wakelin, who is improving nicely, has claims of defeating Yan Bingtao’s conqueror Tian Pengfei, while underrated Andrew Higginson could make Ricky Walden work hard.

Dual world finalist Matthew Stevens could also make life tough for Ken Doherty.
