Graeme Dott capable of keeping it close against Bingham

Day two
Eurosport 2, 7.30am & 1pm Monday

Graeme Dott will probably need to step up on his International Championship opener when he meets Stuart Bingham early on Tuesday morning, but the season is still new and a handicap punt on the experienced Scot in Daqing could be wise.

Dott had little bother in defeating out-of-sorts Michael White 6-1, but Bingham is likely to be a much tougher test.

The Pocket Rocket had runs of 51, 57 and 98 in frames two, three and four against White, who is struggling terribly for such a talented performer.

Bingham, who compiled breaks of 57, 76, 123 and 105 in ousting Riga Masters runner-up Mark Joyce 6-1, leads Dott 11-4 in their personal series. But the Scot gave the Essex cueman more trouble in their latest meeting, a 10-9 thriller at the Cruclble in April.

Bingham could resume dominance over Dott, but with the handicap asking the favourite to win two of every three frames in this best-of-11 clash, it may be worth backing Dott to keep it close.
