German Masters: day two betting preview, TV details and tips

It’s day two at the German Masters and a number of mismatches makes it difficult for punters to seek value.

However, if there’s going to be an opening-round upset then Jimmy Robertson could spring a surprise on world number 12 Stuart Bingham.

J-Rob made the quarter-finals in Berlin last season, overcoming defending champion Anthony Hamilton and Gary Wilson, and should be in similar shape having kept himself busy in the Championship League.

Bingham, on the other hand, struggled in his 6-2 Masters drubbing against Ronnie O’Sullivan earlier this month and he isn’t a player to be trusting at skimpy odds.

Robertson claimed his maiden ranking title at the European Masters in Lommel in October and another trip to western Europe could see him raise his game.

John Higgins has had a tough start to the season and will need to take a step forward to beat teenage sensation Yuan Sijun.

The Chinese youngster has a habit of claiming big scalps. He silenced compatriot Ding Junhui in the China Championship in September, beat Mark Allen in October’s English Open before dumping out Kyren Wilson in the International Championship just two weeks later.

Toppling someone as experienced as Higgins may prove beyond him, but he can at least keep the contest close and is worth a wager on the handicap.
