Ali Carter and Anthony McGill produced pretty scrappy stuff in their European Masters openers and the duo could fight out a closely fought second-round match in Belgium.

The Captain is trying to step things up after a slowish start to the campaign while McGill's form at the Crucible in April was well below that which was required.

Carter, who ousted Peter Ebdon 4-1 in his Lommel curtain-raiser with breaks of 49, 42 and 105, is edging favouritism against McGill, who compiled runs of 69, 52 and 49 in pipping Chris Totten 4-3.

Picking a winner is difficult so going over the total frames at 5.5 could be prudent.

Recommendation
A Carter v A McGill over 5.5 frames
1pt 4-7 Betfair, Paddy Power
