Carter and Murphy ready to dish up another thriller
Battling Captain may not let Magician run away with it
Day four
Eurosport 1, 6.30am & 11.30am Wednesday
Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter have contested some thrilling matches in the past and they could so again when the pair clash for a place in the last eight of the International Championship in China.
Murphy is probably the better player, but Carter lacks for nothing when it comes to fighting spirit and it was interesting to note that the Captain was being backed early last night to upset the Magician.
It's 6-5 that their latest clash in Daqing lasts for more than nine frames and that could be worth a token interest.
Yan Bingtao continues to make a name for himself – the Chinese teenager is just 16-1 to win the title in places – and Ronnie O'Sullivan's conqueror next meets Jack Lisowski with a quarter-final berth at stake.
Lisowski seems to be turning a corner in his career progression, but he will need to produce a high-quality display to deny Yan.
Recommendation
S Murphy v A Carter over 9.5 frames
1pt 6-5 Hills
