Stuart Bingham whitewashed Robert Milkins 6-0 to reach the Coral Welsh Open final in Cardiff but the world number two should expect a sterner test from Judd Trump.

Bingham, a beaten finalist in 2013, has struggled for large spells of this season but he mustered breaks of 127, 101, 71 and 67 in the Milkins mauling and a reproduction of that heavy scoring could trouble Trump.

This is Bingham’s first final since his World Championship triumph in 2015 and he will be desperate to get his name back in the limelight.

Every mistake Milkins made in yesterday’s last-four clash was punished and Trump, who can often lapse in concentration during a match, may need to bring his A-game.

The Juddernaut can beat anyone on his day and he proved that with a dramatic final-frame success over Barry Hawkins, who clinched last week’s World Grand Prix in Preston, in the quarter-final.

The longer first-to-nine format should suit the world number four and supporting today’s match to go over 14.5 frames makes plenty of appeal.

Trump, already advised by Racing Post’s Henry Hardwicke at 10-1 prior to the tournament, is the likeliest winner but that is reflected in his price and it’s worth chancing that Bingham’s heavy-scoring can keep the contest close.
