Slovakia value for upset with England vulnerable favourites

England's Under-21 side celebrate their 4-0 win over Denmark in March

England kick off the European Under-21 Championship against reigning champions Sweden and it's a match the Three Lions should be looking to win if they have ambitions of winning Group A.

Aidy Boothroyd has not been able to call upon senior internationals such as Marcus Rashford but Jordan Pickford, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond, Rob Holding and Alfie Mawson are established Premier League players and Chelsea's Tammy Abraham soon will be.

Sweden qualified ahead of Spain but were outplayed in both matches and somehow managed a 1-1 home draw without having a shot on target.

Neither team look particularly special and with hosts Poland having no pedigree at this level it could pay to go for a Group A shock.

Free-scoring Slovakia beat a reasonable Holland side home and away to qualify in style and 12 of those in the current U21 squad have played for the senior national team.

Borussia Monchengladbach's Laszlo Benes, inevitably referred to as the new Marek Hamsik, is the pick of those and with no standout team in the section we could quite easily see an upset.
