Joe Sugg could make surprise exit in Strictly semi-final

Lauren Steadman odds-on to go

Semi-final
BBC1, 6.35pm Saturday

Ashley Roberts is the highest average scorer with the Strictly Come Dancing judges but if she is to book her her place in the final then she will almost certainly have to come through another dance-off.

The former Pussycat Doll has ended up in the bottom two in each of the last two weeks before being unanimously saved by the judges and it could be a similar story this week.

On average scores, Lauren Steadman is the worst dancer remaining in the line-up by a wide margin, but she has proved popular enough to avoid the dance-off.

The para-triathlete earned a personal-best 35 points from the judges last week for her American Smooth, but that was still the lowest score on the night.

Tackling a samba and a tango this week doesn't bode well - she scored just 25 points with an Argentine tango in week nine - five points lower than anyone else scored that week.

Strictly is perhaps more of a popularity contest than a dancing one though, and it could be worth backing an upset.

YouTube star Joe Sugg fares well in online polls, but he is essentially an online celebrity so it may be wrong to read too much into that.

With Sugg consistently scoring lower with the judges than any of the remaining semi-finalists bar Steadman, he could be vulnerable and would be the outsider in a potential dance-off against Roberts.

Recommendation
J Sugg to be eliminated
