Match preview

After a shaky start when returning to competitive action last month, Sheffield United have their sights on qualifying for Europe again after some solid performances over the past few weeks.

They responded to three successive defeats across all competitions by enjoying a four-match unbeaten streak - winning three - but a lacklustre performance when losing 2-0 at Leicester last time out has left them needing positive results from their final two games to secure a Europa League berth.

Everton have certainly improved since the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti in December but they have come up short in their pursuit of European football.

They head to Bramall Lane in poor form, without a win in four, and appear to be lacking motivation as the season draws to a close.

Both of these clubs tend to perform better on home soil so the Blades will be confident of picking up all three points on Monday.

The South Yorkshire club are unbeaten at Bramall Lane in six league outings, winning their last four, and they have conceded just 14 times in 18 home engagements this term.

Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that Everton's inability to perform on the road has ultimately cost them the chance to fight it out for a place in Europe, having lost four of their last four away from Goodison Park.

The Toffees are ranked 16th in the table when looking at form away from home, winning just four times in 2019-20, and they lost the reverse fixture 2-0 in September.

Key stat

Everton have not won at Bramall Lane since 1978.
