Settled Uruguay have talent to take them far
Manager Oscar Tabarez
Settled sides are hard to come by in international football but Uruguay are one of the few that fall into that category and after finishing second to Brazil in Conmebol qualification the South American outsiders are worthy of consideration.
Oscar Tabarez has been in charge since 2006 and that continuity is shown by Maxi Pereira, Diego Godin and Cristian Rodriguez all passing a century of caps, while Fernando Muslera, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez are among those approaching that landmark.
Uruguay will always have a chance with Cavani and Suarez and defensively the Atletico Madrid centre-back pairing of Godin alongside Jose Gimenez gives them quality in both boxes.
Matias Vecino is growing in importance at Inter and fellow midfielders Rodrigo Bentancur (Juventus) and Federico Valverde (on loan from Real Madrid at Deportivo) are only going to get better too.
