Match preview

The West Indies upset 1-5 favourites India in the first ODI in Chennai as contrasting centuries from Shai Hope (102 not out from 151 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (139 off 106) steered them to a victory target of 288.

The three-match series moves on to Visakhapatnam, where Hope (123 not out) and Hetmyer (94) were also the heroes in October 2018 as the Windies secured a thrilling tie.

That result hadn't looked likely at the midway point of that ODI after Virat Kohli's brilliant unbeaten 157 had powered India to a total of 321-6.

Kohli's one-day record at the venue is sensational and the home skipper is worth backing to steal the show after a rare failure in the first match of the series.

He has played five one-dayers in Visakhapatnam, scoring 118, 117, 99, 65 and that unbeaten 157 against the Windies, and he played a couple of cracking innings in the Twenty20 series with 94 not out in Hyderabad and 70 not out in Mumbai.
