Sao Paulo have responded to their worst ever finish in the Brazilian Serie A last year with an impressive start to this campaign and they can take the spoils against fellow in-form outfit Internacional.

Sao Paulo’s weekend defeat at Palmeiras was their first of the season but they can prove they are a developing side under new manager Diego Aguirre by beating an Internacional team who are just a point behind them in the table.

The visitors are unbeaten in five and have been one of the tightest defensive units in Brazil’s top flight this term, conceding just six goals in their nine matches and keeping clean sheets in three of their last five games.

Sao Paulo have the attacking exploits available to them to break down a stubborn Internacional defence, with Aguirre’s men having scored in eight of their nine Serie A matches this season.

Veteran marksman Diego Souza has scored four goals for Sao Paulo in the Brazilian top division this term and spearheads a dynamic midfield featuring speedy starlet Marcos Guilherme and ageing duo Everton and Nene.

With these teams having lost just three matches between them this season, a tentative affair is likely to unfold.

Sao Paulo will however be buoyed by their progression to the Campeonato Paulista semi-finals earlier this year and can remind newly-promoted Internacional of the challenge Serie A poses.
