Salford City should smash dodgy Dagenham
Hartlepool's good run may continue
Big-spending Salford City are taking a bit of time to hit their stride in the National League but they look a solid odds-on favourites to defeat basement boys Dagenham & Redbridge.
All of City's three wins have come in home games but they picked up their first away point when drawing 1-1 at Havant & Waterlooville last Saturday and followed it up with a convincing 3-1 success at home to Barrow on Monday.
Four points over the weekend lifted Salford into the top ten for the first time but they will be eyeing up first place and want to narrow the four-point gap between themselves and leaders Halifax.
While Salford focus on promotion, cash-strapped Dagenham have a battle on their hands to stay up.
Their squad was largely broken up in the summer and it will take time for manager Peter Taylor to get his new-look team to function as he would like.
The Daggers can take encouragement from the fact that all of their six defeats have been by a single goal but a match against promotion-chasing Salford is the last thing they need.
Three successive victories have lifted Hartlepool to the fringes of the playoffs and their good run can continue with a win at Havant.
Pools had a tough time last season, avoiding the drop by only eight points, but they look a lot more settled this term and should not be discounted from the promotion reckoning.
A shade under 4,000 fans watched their 1-0 success at home to Chesterfield on Monday and the Hartlepool revival may be set to continue.
They are juicy 5-2 shots against promoted Havant, who have won just one of their seven matches.
