Two clubs who have stood head and shoulders above the pack go head to head for the big prize in French rugby as Toulouse and Clermont meet at the Stade de France in Paris.

Toulouse finished top of the pile, 15 points clear of second-placed Clermont following a remarkable regular season in which they lost just three games - two of them back in September and then an April loss at Toulon.

A 20-20 draw with today's opponents Clermont in December was followed by a remarkable 47-44 victory in the reverse fixture in April.

Those scorelines show how clearly matched the teams are on the pitch and bookmakers are struggling to split the pair. Toulouse are the narrowest of favourites based on their season-long record, but man for man the value looks to be with a more experienced Clermont side who are proven on the big stage.

Both teams progressed through their semi-finals comfortably enough but Toulouse's young half-backs Antoine Dupont and Thomas Ramos looked uncertain and face a huge test on this stage.

Clermont coach Franck Azema has stuck with his starting 15 from the semi-final win over Lyon with seasoned internationals Greig Laidlaw and Camille Lopez at nine and ten plus a real array of Test experience running through the side.

It should be close-fought again but Clermont can edge it.

Recommendation
Clermont to win by one to 12 points
2pts 2-1 Betfred, Coral, Ladbrokes
