Match preview

Two-time European champions Wasps have dropped down to the Challenge Cup for the first time in six seasons but they have found themselves in a tough pool alongside Agen, Edinburgh and their opening opponents Bordeaux.

Bordeaux are second in the Pro14 table with just two defeats after nine rounds, and while their commitment to European competition has been lukewarm in past seasons, they look to have enough to get past a Wasps team missing some big names.

There's no Lima Sopoaga, Jimmy Gopperth or Matteo Minozzi in their backline, while scrum-half Dan Robson starts on the bench, and while England lock Joe Launchbury returns, coach Dai Young has also rotated his pack.

A handicap of 11 points looks high given Bordeaux lost at home to Sale and Connacht last year, but their strong line-up look capable of securing a narrow win.

Scarlets give up 16 points at home to London Irish (S4C, 7.45pm), while at Twickenham the Barbarians, coached by Eddie Jones, are 17-point favourites against Fiji.
