The Jaguares have capped a fine run of results by reaching their first Super Rugby semi-final - and at home too - but they meet an equally in-form team in the ACT Brumbies and this promises to be a close-fought clash.

The teams met in Argentina in round 11 when the Jaguares came out on top 20-15. The Australian outfit took a 12-5 lead in the opening half but fatigue seemed to catch up with them - they had played in South Africa the week before and were ground down by the hosts.

That was the last defeat the Brumbies suffered as last week’s 38-13 demolition of the Sharks marked their seventh consecutive victory.

The Jaguares have lost just once in eight since then against a tougher set of opponents and last week’s huge defensive effort in their eliminator against the Chiefs, which they won 21-16, was testament to their commitment and work ethic.

Another narrow-margin victory for the Jaguares could be an enticing bet for this clash. But although travel-fatigue and a six-day turnaround could again be a factor for the Brumbies, given their pedigree and the quiet resolve they have shown it may pay to side with them receiving a six-point start. They can at the very least keep it to a single-score game but the chance of victory is there too.
