Points tally fancied to mount in potential Rec thriller

Coaches name strong sides

Rain is on the radar for the Rec but a bet on more than 48.5 points still looks good for the televised Premiership clash between Bath and Wasps.

The clash is being billed as key to how the playoff places shake up and both coaches have tried to name their strongest available side, but the reality is that with five weeks left in the campaign a loose game is likely even if that won’t suit either team.

Bath beat Harlequins 22-12 in their last home outing and before that got into a ding-dong 32-30 battle with Northampton at the Rec. There have been 189 points in the last three Wasps games, including a 35-35 draw at Exeter.

Glasgow are slipping off the pace in the race for the Pro12 playoffs but they should not have any trouble with the Dragons at Scotstoun. Livewire Scotland scrum-half Henry Pyrgos is great value for a second try of the season at 6-1.

Cardiff won at Edinburgh last week but Munster still look worth a bet to win at the Arms Park. Take them to give up two points.

The Blues are inconsistent whereas the Red Army have been magnificent and last week’s loss to Scarlets should be overlooked.

Whatever Leinster team play and wherever they play they seem to go well and the same statement can be said about the Scarlets so the Dublin clash between the two (S4C, 7.35pm), should be entertaining. Sniping Leinster scrum-half Luke McGrath can be considered for a try.
