Match preview

Gloucester attracted plenty of flak for sending a weakened team to face Leinster in Dublin last week, but they could feel the benefit in what they will see as a more important Premiership clash at Leicester.

While Leicester were slugging it out against Clermont last weekend many of Gloucester's key players were rested and they next take on a Tigers side who have just lost title-winning coach Steve Borthwick to the England set-up.

Scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth steps up to the coaching plate for Leicester and has named a strong team, but Gloucester will surely have targeted this fixture against the team one place below them in fifth and a key playoff rival.

The Cherry & Whites beat Northampton 34-19 to end a run of three straight defeats before the European break, and a reset in that period will have done them good.

Leicester have four wins to their name in nine league matches this season and have rewarded their handicap backers just twice, and Gloucester look worth backing with a five-point start.

Saturday's Premiership action also includes a West Country derby at Sandy Park, where Exeter are 11-point favourites at home to Bath.
