Match preview

After an encouraging start to the season Gloucester have lost four on the spin but they can get back on track with a win at Harlequins.

November brought Premiership defeats at Leicester and at home to champions Saracens, followed by European reverses against French powerhouses Toulouse and Montpellier.

In the first of those they let slip a 20-9 lead whereas last week they fought back to get within three points of Montpellier by the end. In both of those matches their set-piece came under huge pressure but they should stand up better to Quins.

With a return to European action next weekend and a double-header against Connacht, Gloucester coach Johan Ackerman has retained just four of his starting line-up from last week.

But he still has a strong team out with Danny Cipriani and Joe Simpson combining in the halves and Rugby World Cup winner Franco Mostert making his first start of the season in the second row.

Quins were poor in defeat to Worcester in their last home Premiership outing and were thumped by Clermont in the Champions Cup before dogging out an ugly tryless win against Bath in desperate conditions last week.

The Cherry & Whites won this fixture last season as Quins ended their campaign with just one victory in seven and they haven't looked convincing this term, even though their one league success came against early pace-setters Bristol.

Bristol are also in action today, and give up 13 points at home to London Irish.
