Match preview

This fixture lost its 'Big Game' billing when it had to be moved from Twickenham to the Stoop, but while the surroundings might have been scaled down there's a good chance the excitement on the pitch won't be.

These are two attacking teams, and last year's meetings produced points tallies of 76 and 67 and a total of 21 tries. Before that they met in an extraordinary semi-final in 2021, when Quins fought back from 28-0 down before winning 43-36 after extra time. There were ten tries scored in the 80 minutes and another three in extra time.

Harlequins are still without England fly-half Marcus Smith while Bristol are missing Kiwi winger Charles Piutau, and there's a threat of rain which could all contribute to keeping the scored down.

But there should be no lack of ambition, especially from Harlequins at home. The hosts have named a strong side and this looks a good opportunity for winger Cadan Murley to get back on the scoring trail after bagging seven tries in the first six rounds.

Murley has made 685 metres with ball in hand this season, more than any other player, and looks set to play a leading role in an open contest.

The handicap is set at around nine points - only one of Quins' six victories this season has been by a double-figure margin, and while Bristol endured a run of four double-figure defeats in five games, their last two outings ended in a five-point defeat at Sale and a draw at home with champions Leicester.
