The Crusaders topped the Super Rugby regular-season standings by five points, finished a whopping 22 points above quarter-final opponents the Highlanders, and are odds-on to claim a third consecutive crown.

With their ranks bolstered by some big names returning from injury, the hosts look well equipped to run up a big win at home in Christchurch.

For the first time this season the Crusaders can field their all-international front row of Owen Franks, Codie Taylor and Joe Moody, who join fellow All Blacks Kieran Read, Sam Whitelock and Scott Barrett in the pack.

The Highlanders are also boosted by the return of Ben Smith from injury - the talismanic full-back scored the first try when the teams met in Christchurch in April. But that match ended in a 43-17 victory for the Crusaders, who overcame the early setback and a host of handling errors to cruise to a commanding win.

It may not that be emphatic in a knockout contest but a 13-point handicap looks well within reach of a Crusaders side who are well rested after a bye last week.
