Bordeaux vs Toulouse predictions
Toulouse are the reigning European champions and sit ten points clear at the top of the French league. But they have lost home and away to Bordeaux in the Top 14 this season and are worth taking on at odds-on away from home in Sunday's Champions Cup semi-final.
Bordeaux earned top seeding in the pool stage thanks to a perfect 20-point haul from four bonus-point wins out of four while Toulouse, drawn in the same section, fell one point short.
That seeding means Bordeaux can stage the semi-final in their own city, though at the Stade Atlantique football stadium rather than their own home ground.
However, they will draw huge confidence from their record against Les Toulousains this season, having won 16-12 on the road in September and a 32-24 home win in March.
These teams were the top scorers in the pool stage, both bagging 33 tries in their four matches, and Bordeaux winger Damian Penaud topped the try charts before the semi-finals with 12, twice as many as any other player. Teammate Louis Bielle-Biarrey is among those with a haul of six and together the wingers form a devastating finishing combination.
There is plenty of star quality in the Toulouse line-up as well but they are still missing scrum-half Antoine Dupont, who was injured in the Six Nations, and this is a huge fixture where his absence looks likely to be felt.
This has the potential to be a classic clash and no outcome would come as a huge surprise. But at the prices, given their record this season Bordeaux look the bet as value outsiders.
