Match preview

Just a week after Australia stunned New Zealand 24-22 in Brisbane Argentina trumped their achievement by pulling off their first win against the All Blacks in 30 meetings, winning 25-15 in Sydney.

It was a thoroughly deserved victory as the Pumas played with an intensity and purpose that belied the fact they had not played a Test in more than a year.

The difficulty they now face is to regain focus in the space of a week and do it all again against the Wallabies, and that is where they may fall short.

The level of concentration and discipline Argentina produced was outstanding. The All Blacks are a team who feed on mistakes and turnovers but the Pumas made just one handling error in the entire game.

Australia still have their squad issues and continue with Reece Hodge in the unfamiliar fly-half position. But they have four Tests under their belts this year, all against New Zealand, and may find new, lower-ranked opponents offer more of a chance to unleash their attack.

The Wallabies have won 17 of the last 19 meetings between these teams, the last ten victories have been by more than five points, and eight of those ten wins have been by a double-figure margin.
