Match previews

The Betfred Super League regular season reaches its conclusion this weekend and we could be in for a final-round cracker between Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR despite the knowledge that both sides have qualified for the playoffs.

Castleford's defeat to Warrington on Thursday left the path clear for these two to fight it out to see who plays Wigan or Warrington in next week's eliminators. The Tigers' season is done.

KR currently occupy fifth place and that would see them head to Wigan next Thursday, while the sixth-placed finisher would travel to Warrington 24 hours later.

On current form the Wolves look the side to avoid so Hull KR will be keen to clean on to fifth and that means we should still get a competitive contest at Headingley.

These two produce lively contests at the best of times and they will want to enter the playoffs in the right frame of mind.

The last eight meetings have produced points totals of 32, 57, 66, 62, 48, 52, 71 and 74 and a more relaxed scenario may see the points flow once again.

KR won 26-6 the last time they met in May but Leeds have won three of the last four meetings.

This match could swing either way so taking the Robins with a six-point start looks a decent opening bet, while either side opening the scoring with a successful penalty also looks a worthy wager.

And it may also pay to have a small investment in the match finishing all-square at much loftier odds.

Six matches have gone to golden point in the Super League this season and it would be no surprise to see this go all the way with potentially so much at stake.

There is nothing left to play for in Friday's other matches featuring Wigan v Catalans, Wakefield v Hull FC and Salford v St Helens so all look best left alone from a betting perspective.
