There are just three rounds of the regular season remaining and the jostling for position in the playoff places is frenetic.

League leaders Hull KR can clinch top spot and the League Leaders' Shield if they beat Hull FC on Sunday and Wigan fail to beat St Helens on Friday.

There are four teams fighting it out to finish second thus securing home advantage in the playoffs, and fast-finishing Leeds can strengthen their claims at Huddersfield on Thursday.

The season can't end soon enough for strugglers Salford and Catalans who have little left to play for in their Thursday encounter.

Thursday's Super League preview

It's rivals round in the Betfred Super League but there is plenty more at stake than just local pride when Leeds Rhinos head to Huddersfield Giants on Thursday.

The Rhinos are one of four teams chasing second place behind Hull KR, who are virtually assured of top spot with three rounds of the regular season remaining.

Just four points separate second-placed Wigan from St Helens in fifth and sealing second position is crucial as it guarantees home advantage throughout the playoffs.

Third-placed Leeds could join Wigan on 34 points with a win over Huddersfield and a comfortable win for the fast-finishing Headingley side looks well within reach.

The Rhinos hammered Hull FC 34-0 last week and they look to have timed their charge to perfection.

Brad Arthur's men have won seven of their last nine matches, including two wins over Hull KR and convincing victories over Leigh and Castleford.

Huddersfield have little left to play for as they languish in tenth spot, and even a derby dust-up with Leeds is unlikely to see them put up more of a fight.

The Giants have had a miserable season but briefly flickered into life with successes over Catalans, Hull FC and Warrington.

However, those three clubs have plenty of issues of their own, and a 52-4 hammering by St Helens and last week's 48-2 drubbing at Wakefield suggest the Giants are out of their depth against the best sides in the division.

Leeds are easily one of those, and another hefty loss for Huddersfield looks likely.

Thursday's other fixture sees Catalans Dragons head to Salford and both are desperate for the end of the season.

A combined total of ten wins from 48 matches paints a sorry picture for the struggling pair but the Red Devils will have a spring in their step following last week's shock win over Warrington.
