Sunday's match previews

St Helens' charge to a fourth consecutive Betfred Super League title took a huge bump last week and they may struggle to get back on track against Castleford Tigers on Sunday.

It looks an intriguing contest at the Totally Wicked Stadium and Channel 4 must be rubbing their hands with glee as they make their return as lead broadcaster for the match.

Saints were walloped 44-12 by in-form Salford last Sunday and taming the Tigers won't be easy.

Cas were also on the end of a hammering as they fell to a derby defeat at the hands of Wakefield.

Prior to that, Castleford won five of their six league matches including the scalps of Hull FC, Warrington, Huddersfield and Catalans.

Lee Radford will be keen for his side to get back on track quickly as they push their claims for a playoff spot, and recent meetings give cause to be optimistic.

The Tigers have won three of their last five meetings with the champions, winning the last two by 20 and ten points, and on both of those occasions, Saints were limited to scoring just ten points.

You take on the Red Vee at your peril but a 12-point start for Castleford looks generous.

Salford will be buzzing following their blitz against the Saints and they can continue their fine form against Leeds.

The Red Devils all of a sudden find themselves in playoff contention after winning five of their last six fixtures, including the last three, and they are finding points easy to come by.

Paul Rowley's side have plundered 100 points in their last three fixtures, conceding just 29 in the process and that bodes well against a Leeds side who managed just 20 points in their last two meetings with Salford.

It has been a season of struggle at Headingley although the Rhinos have won their last two outings with impressive wins over Catalans and Wigan.

But just when you think they have turned a corner they let one slip and Salford look the value in this encounter having beaten Leeds 23-8 in round 12.

Wakefield also look a touch of value hosting Catalans on Sunday.

Trinity are fighting for their lives at the bottom and will be buzzing after their derby win at Castleford.

Catalans have come out on top in their last nine meetings with Wakey but have won just one of their last four matches and are finding points hard to come by.

The Dragons have scored 61 points in their last four fixtures so backing the home side to have the edge at Belle Vue looks the way to go.
